How we help customers

We take great pride in the fact that we have helped so many Rental Stairlift customers regain their independence and stay in their own homes over the years.

We are always happy to liaise with hospital staff and occupational therapists to help our customers return to their own homes after being in hospital, and to find the best rental stairlift for their homes and mobility needs.

Here are some examples of our happy customers from over the past few years.

We helped Mrs Shaw from Manchester leave hospital confident that she would be able to access her home as her leg healed after an operation.

We liaised with the hospital staff and were involved in an assessment to make sure the right stairlift was installed.

“I was so relieved to be able to come home,” said Mrs Shaw. “It was getting pretty difficult to get up the stairs before my operation, so it was the right time.

I liked the idea of renting the stairlift as it was flexible.”

We helped Mr Ogden from Bury to regain his independence as he was finding it increasingly difficult to get up the stairs. We installed a curved stairlift using the latest technology and a modular rail concept.

It has an easy to use rocker switch / joystick control, the lift folds away when it’s not in use and the low footrest makes it easy to get on and off.

“The installation was pretty quick and simple and I am now free of the worry of getting up the stairs,” said Mr Ogden.

We helped Mr Pilkington from Sheffield, who has COPD, (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease), and is often out of breath when he climbs the stairs. His son Alan contacted us after he noticed that his dad was finding it more difficult to get up the stairs and kept stopping to get his breath back.

“Dad didn’t want to cause a fuss but we were worried he might fall so we were glad we found Rental Stairlifts,” said his son.

We also assured Mr Pilkington and his son that they were able to rent the stairlift with flexible terms, and no structural work is needed as the lift is secured to the stairs and not the wall, which was a plus for Mr Pilkington.

"The installation only took a couple of hours, and the engineer tidied and cleaned up. I would highly recommend them to anyone for peace of mind for older relatives," said Alan.

We helped Mr Earnshaw from Huddersfield regain mobility in his home as he was visually impaired after an operation to remove a cataract and subsequent infection and couldn’t get up the stairs unaided.

We spoke to Mr Earnshaw's occupational therapist about the best stairlift for his needs.

He preferred a standing lift as he felt safer standing rather than sitting and standing without being able to see properly. And we were able to offer him a powered swivel seat which helped him control the stairlift without full visibility.

As flexibility was so important to Mr Earnshaw, our easy rental payment terms created an ideal option - he hoped to regain his sight once the infection had cleared and his eye had healed.

“I am very optimistic that I will be able to see fully again, and feel it is important to feel I can have a flexible option that is not permanent – because hopefully my sight loss will not be permanent,” said Mr Earnshaw.

We first helped Mr Waite by fitting a stairlift in his home in North Yorkshire in 2016, and he contacted us for help again recently.

Although the previous stairlift we fitted had helped Mr Waite stay in his home for several years despite his worsening arthritis, he now needed more help and came to us for advice.

He was beginning to have trouble sitting down on the stairlift and standing up again to get off it. We suggested a sit-stand stairlift so that Mr Waite could stand on the stairlift without needing to cause pain by sitting.

We suggested the Brooks Lincoln sit / stand stairlift, a special stairlift built specifically to overcome problems the customer may have with sitting and standing from a sitting position. The stairlift is especially helpful for customers with arthritis, and also useful after a knee or hip operation. The stairlift is built to allow the customer to safely stand on the footrest, whilst holding onto a special folding security bar for stability.

It can also be used in the seated position, and so it is ideal for multiple users with different requirements to use the stairlift.

“I am pleased I asked for help and Rental Stairlifts were able to find a way to get around the problem,” said Mr Waite.

We helped Mr and Mrs Allen, from Brighton, who urgently needed a stairlift so that Mrs Allen's elderly mother could be released from hospital to stay with them.

"My mother wanted to stay with us and as we have a large house and our children have left home, it seemed the ideal solution," said Mrs Allen.

"Rental Stairlifts were very helpful and arranged for their engineer to come out within a few days and book in the installation for us."

“Our narrow curved staircase wasn't a problem, and they explained how the stairlift folds back against the wall so the rest of the family would have no problem getting up the stairs."

Mr and Mrs Richardson from Crawley in Sussex contacted us to see if we could help them look after their son, who recently had an accident that meant he couldn't use the stairs.
