There are several schemes which provide a bookable service for people who have problems accessing public transport, including:

 

Ring and Ride

Ring and Ride is a door-to-door minibus service for people who find it difficult or are unable to access the general transport network. It is a door-to-door minibus service with drivers who are trained in passenger assistance.

 

All vehicles are wheelchair accessible. You do not need to be registered disabled or use a wheelchair to be eligible but must register for the service - call 0161 200 6011 for more details.

   

Community Cars

Community Cars is managed by a mixture of volunteers and charities. Most cars need to be booked in advance.

North West Ambulance Service

This service is a non-emergency service for people who need special help getting to and from their healthcare appointments - call 0161 949 0770 for more details or to book.

 

Royal Voluntary Service

The Royal Voluntary Service provides transport for essential appointments and visits to and from hospital, to a GP or other medical appointments where confidence or mobility issues can make it difficult or impossible to attend.

 

Volunteers provide company and help you get to and from your appointment, and they can also be on hand to help you check in and wait with you before returning home.
