Mrs Turley, who lives in Manchster, recently found that the aches and pains she usually feels in her legs became much worse and she had to sit on the edge of the bed for up to half an hour before she felt able to get up and face the stairs.

"The pain and aches used to be fairly manageable and I was confident I could get down the stairs safely, but suddenly I started to feel nervous. We thought that renting was a good idea as it was flexible so I could see if it was going to fit well on the staircase - and I was hoping the aches and pains would improve.
