Bury u3a

Bury U3A is a self-help learning and social organisation which brings together those no longer in fulltime employment to continue their educational, social and creative interests in a friendly and informal environment - men and women from Bury, Prestwich, Radcliffe, Ramsbottom, Tottington, Whitefield and the surrounding areas are most welcome.

Bury U3A has around 700 members and almost 100 interest groups e.g. bridge, luncheon groups, choir, poetry, languages, crafts, walking, line dancing, history, philosophy, cards, trips, backgammon (to mention but a few!). Some meet in members' houses, others in hired rooms.

We have a weekly coffee morning every Tuesday morning in the Art House, Bury 10:00 - 12pm all welcome! Come and see what u3a is all about.

We do not learn to gain qualifications - we advocate learning new things for learning's sake. We do not pay tutors - all our groups are run by members, each member contributes to the learning process, if applicable, in a friendly, supportive way.

Jinnah Day Care Centre

The Jinnah Centre has a wide range of activities which aim at improving the health and wellbeing of older people. These activities include:

Yoga, Exercise sessions, chair based exercises, arts and crafts, Diabetes Consultant Sessions, Healthy Mind Sessions, Dementia Cafe, sailing, swimming, coffee mornings and much more.

Other social activities include pool, Asian newspapers, current affairs discussions, card and board games. through these activities the Jinnah Centre aims to relieve social isolation and loneliness.

 

The Jinnah Centre also provides a healthy lunch and afternoon tea. It also signposts service users towards other organisations when there are issues related to benefits.

It will make referrals to other agencies in regards to mobility assessments and mobility aids such as bath rails etc.

There is also a prayer room in the centre and ablution facilities.

Prestwich Circle (HMR Circle)

Prestwich Circle organises social events and practical support for older people in and around Prestwich.

The Circle works with other Circles across, Rochdale, Middleton, Heywood and Oldham to connect older people to a wider offer.
