Some people assume installing a stairlift in their home will be expensive, especially in today's economic climate. Rental Stairlifts gives you the opportunity to hire the latest stairlift technology at the lowest price, and renting a stairlift is one of the most cost effective means of having a stairlift fitted in your home.
Our stairlift rental scheme is an excellent option for customers who don't want the worry and expense of the maintenance and servicing costs of a stairlift. We offer straight stairlift rental from only £245 initial payment and £10.38 per week.
Advanced technology in power saving devices means that most stairlifts use a few pennies a day for the electricity needed to trickle charge the stairlift’s rechargeable battery (between 0.10p – 0.20p per day).
Although the width of the staircase is a factor, the most important issue is the overall measurement taken from the user's spine to their knees or spine to their toes while sitting on the stairlift seat. Whichever protrudes the most, (knees or toes), is the measurement taken to the user's spine. The thickness of the seat back is then added to the overall distance from the back of the seat to a user's knees or toes which will determine whether a stairlift will travel safely on the staircase. Another important issue to note is that stairlifts can be folded when not in use. This safely increases the available space for other householders using the staircase.
A very common misconception is that stairlifts are fixed to the wall. This is not true, in almost every case stairlifts are fixed to the treads on the staircase.
The rail is held in place by special ‘feet’ which the stairlift travels along and this is fixed to specific treads of the staircase. Your surveyor will tell you which treads are used. The weight of the stairlift and the user are then supported across the full length of the staircase.
This was the case many years ago, as most stairlifts were only powered by mains electricity. When power-cuts happened or the power was cut off they immediately stopped working.
But today only a small amount of mains power is needed purely to charge the rechargeable batteries which are usually hidden within the stairlift carriage. Most manufacturers' rechargeable batteries are capable of operating the stairlift for approximately 3 – 4 days which allows for 7 return journeys a day without the need for recharging. As soon as the mains power comes back on then the batteries are automatically recharged to full capacity.
Today's advancements enable AC mains electricity to constantly charge the batteries while the stairlift uses the DC power directly from the recharged batteries. If the recharged batteries ever lost the mains supply then the rechargeable batteries automatically continue to operate the stairlift.
